About

Alison Rodilosso seeks unconventional ways to portray what is familiar. Beneath her formal, structured compositions lie quiet tensions and unresolved mysteries that invite the viewer to look more deeply.

While living in Tokyo during college, she embraced the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi — an appreciation of imperfection and the understanding that nothing is permanent or complete. This philosophy continues to inform her photography. She welcomes ambiguity, often leaving questions unanswered, allowing space for the viewer’s own interpretation. Her aesthetic moves between the rustic and weathered and the spare clarity of the modern, balancing rawness with refinement.

Alison finds the principles of wabi-sabi equally resonant in her life beyond the lens, particularly in raising her four children as they move through life’s many evolving stages. In both realms, she values process over perfection and places her trust in the unfolding rather than a fixed outcome.

She currently serves as Chief Photographer for The Rye Record and is President of The Ground Glass, a respected photographic society dedicated to the pursuit of fine art photography. Her work has been exhibited at The Rye Arts Center, ArtsWestchester, Chroma Fine Art Gallery, and The Carriage Barn Arts Center and is held in several private collections.
